Helpful Tech Tips for Your Vehicle

Welcome to our automotive tech tips page. Here you will find resources that will help you maintain your vehicle at its best.

At Palmer Auto Service LLC, we don’t just react to mechanical failures as they occur. We encourage you to invest in your vehicle proactively and predictably by following a logical, easy process for your vehicle maintenance.

Our philosophy is: We’d rather you be prepared than surprised. We recommend that you begin maintaining your vehicle before it goes out of warranty to prevent mechanical wear and failure once you become responsible for the repairs. We offer the BG Automotive Maintenance Service's free lifetime coverage for your vehicle’s major components if you follow the   Lifetime BG Protection Plan®. Let us advise you on how to stay ahead of unpredictable, expensive repairs and get vehicle coverage that continues long after your vehicle is out of the factory warranty. Call (734) 398-3922 to learn more.

For vehicles equipped with a gasoline direct injection (GDI) system, a buildup of carbon on the intake valves can cause problems like poor idle, diminished fuel economy and reduced overall performance. Check out the video featuring Master Trainer Dave Cerveny of Garage Gurus to learn how to determine if carbon buildup is causing your vehicle’s engine problems.

Using a Bluetooth-enabled inspection camera, Dave shows how to inspect the valve for carbon buildup. A concentration of carbon is problematic because it reduces the flow of fuel to the back of the intake valve which reduces engine performance.
